Overview

The Electrician works as part of our Maintenance Team in a fast paced food packaging plastics manufacturing facility.

This position involves a combination of troubleshooting, preventive and predictive maintenance to solve issues, make repairs and bring new equipment into service. Documentation and Teamwork are critical to success in this role.

Details

  • Operate within a multi-skilled environment to maintain the plant’s machinery and equipment, while improving processes to minimize disruption to the production lines
  • Perform preventative maintenance on electrical and mechanical equipment in accordance with standardized procedures
  • Maintain all electrical and mechanical maintenance records
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical equipment, including PLC and motor controls, safety sensors and relays
  • Installation, troubleshooting and upgrading of industrial electrical systems and equipment, including electrical wiring, receptacles, switch boxes, conduits, feeders, fiber-optic and coaxial cable assemblies, lighting fixtures and other electrical components.
  • Practice safe work habits. Comply with all applicable legislative and Amhil’s health and safety, food safety, and environmental policies and procedures.
  • Test electrical and electronic equipment and components for continuity, current, voltage, and resistance.
  • Ensure that work area is always clean of debris and hazards and check work area for such hazards upon arrival and when departing each area of work.
  • Interact with all employees in a positive manner and promote safe and co-operative working environment.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or required.

What we’re looking for

  • A Great Attitude!
  • Must wear all required PPE (Personal Protective Equipment).
  • Certified Ontario Electrician (442A/309A or inter-provincial license) with PLC and motor controls troubleshooting experience and technical knowledge.
  • 2 to 5 years’ industrial, electrical and mechanical experience, preferably in the food -industry.
  • Strong problem-solving skills related to troubleshooting equipment issues, preferably in a fast paced manufacturing/industrial environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with cross-functional team members.
  • Mechanical aptitude/ interest.
  • Proven ability to adapt to changing priorities and working conditions.
  • The successful candidate must me flexible to work after hours as needed to resolve breakdown issues.
  • This position will be primarily days, yet requires some flexibility
  • The schedule will be either 12 hour continental or 8 hour days depending on business needs.

Also nice to have

  • Master’s electrician certification.
  • Previous experience working in a 24/7 Plastics manufacturing environment.
  • Sound understanding of industrial controls networks.
  • Sound understanding of industrial drives
